The face behind Beauty Training South West

I actually have a degree in Accounting and Finance, but truthfully… I never really knew what I wanted to do long term. As soon as uni finished, I went travelling around South East Asia and Australia – because at the time, that’s the one thing I knew I really wanted to do.

Coming home, I tried the 9-5 life in a finance department, but I hated it!! I ended up back in hospitality — something I’d done all the way through college and uni — because I loved the social side of it, the flexible shifts, and not being stuck behind a computer all day.

One day I saw an advert online for a local hair extension course, l’d always had them myself so I thought I would give it a go! At that time I had no idea this was going to be the start of my future career.

I started advertising and building my clientele at home and mobile. I then trained in spray tanning as i used to have those myself regularly too and thought it would be fun! Shoutout to my top student and in-house personal spray tanner… my husband.

At this point, I just knew the beauty industry was where l was meant to be.

The start of beauty Training South West

I knew I needed to train in a treatment that would be appealing to a salon so l qualified in Acrylic Extensions, Gel Polish and E File. This led me to joining a lovely salon in Newquay where my career really began.

From there, the training bug hit – I wanted to learn it all. Lashes, brows, lamination, lash lifts, gel extensions and waxing… I was hooked. My phone filled up with nail photos, clients became friends, and the salon felt like my second home

I then started my own family and became a mum, everything changed — in the best way! I’m lucky enough to have two gorgeous little boys, and after having my first, I knew I wouldn’t return to salon life. I needed the flexibility, the freedom, and the ability to work around my family – while keeping 100% of my income.

I truly believe everyone deserves to work in a job they love – one that brings happiness, freedom and flexibility around your lifestyle and commitments. I knew I could offer better advice and training than what I received when I first started, because I have a genuine passion for helping others succeed and enjoy their work as much as I did.

And that’s when I realised – Beauty Training South West was my next step! Being able to help people that are once where I was.. at the beginning of their journey, eager to learn but nervous.. unsure of where it will all go but excited for the future.. brings me so much joy.

Over the past 4 years l’ve had the absolute pleasure of helping hundreds of students gain their qualifications and start their own business. I have also helped qualified beauticians expand or refresh in new skills!

My favourite parts of it is meeting new people and fellow beauticians, hearing their plans and ambitions, bouncing business ideas off each other, following their journey and celebrating their success through social media knowing l’ve been a part of it

The saying really is true..

"Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life"

We all start in the beginning at the same place – no clients, no experience, just a dream. But I did it, and I knew I could help others do the same.
